Cavendish Class of 2020 Poem

YEAR 6 LEAVERS 2013-2020

On the final day of the strangest academic year we have ever experienced we would all like to thank you for being an amazing Year group. During this unprecedented time, we have all had to adapt to a new way of learning and we thank you massively for your continued support for which we will always be exceptionally grateful.

We feel cheated that we have not been able to offer the exciting activities that we usually do as part of preparing the children for their transitions to secondary school. Once we entered the pandemic, we were unable to plan our usual schooling due to the Lockdown, undertake our residential, perform our leavers production or have our sports day.

Within Horizon MAT, no other academy school has, or is organising a Year 6 Leaver’s event and we are not aware of any school in our Authority who is. Furthermore, with the recent confirmed case of covid-19 in a local primary school it would be very negligent and foolish of us to try to take the risk to organise such events.

We hope you like the memories autograph book and special certificate and these keep sakes have made you smile. I know that this has taken weeks of organisation and endless emails and phone calls to enable them to be completed. Those parents who know us well, know that the children are at the heart of all that we do, and we feel so sad that we were not able to say goodbye properly to you all. Again, I can only apologise for how the parents are feeling as this is not how we wanted their final year at primary school to end.

Currently we do not know how the pandemic is going to affect our lives in the coming months, however we do intend to bring the Year 6 pupils back to Cavendish so that we can celebrate their time with us and say goodbye properly. This will be arranged when it is safe to do so and we will inform you of what we have planned.

We cannot believe your time at Cavendish is coming to an end. You will have so many wonderful memories that will be cherished forever. Remember to always be kind and to keep chasing your dreams as one day you will catch them.

Lots of love from,

Mrs Rozenbroek, Miss Brummitt & All the staff at Cavendish
