Retired Head Teacher of St Nicholas Primary School in Hull

The Local Governing Body (LGB) of Cavendish Primary School is responsible for ensuring there is a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction supporting the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education to all pupils. Together with the Head of School and Executive Head, who are responsible for day-to-day management, the Governing Body set the school's aims and policies.

Our Governors

  • Work closely with senior leaders to set the vision for the school’s future.
  • Help to decide on the curriculum to be taught.
  • Set standards and expectations for behaviour and attitudes to learning
  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring money is effectively spent.
  • Challenge school leaders at all levels about performance, monitoring all aspects of school life including the school development plan.
  • Make sure our school is welcoming and safe and all staff are vigilant in safeguarding our pupils.
  • Interview and select staff.
  • Support and challenge staff at all levels.

Governors are not involved in making day to day operational decisions, as this is the role of the Head of School, Executive Head and school leadership team.
