You can’t use up creativity; the more you use, the more you have.
At Cavendish our Art and Design curriculum provides children with opportunities to develop their skills using a range of media and materials. Children have the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas developing skills in drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and digital art.
Our children study a range of work by famous artists to develop knowledge of styles. We teach art through lots of cross-curricular opportunities in the classroom. The children have a sketch book that helps with documenting their ideas and designs for different projects. This follows them through the school demonstrating progression across all the years.
We take pride in displaying children’s art work and celebrating talented individuals and those that are artistically gifted. In recent years we have created an art exhibition of all the children’s work in the school around a whole school theme. The children have also participated in designing their own Christmas cards that parents have bought and had professionally printed.
We believe that any child can be creative and that this is a crucial skill to allow children to express themselves in their own individual way.
